Give your skin the care it needs this summer !

Summers are known for blue skies, long sunny days, bright colors, fresh and cold beverages and, well, dull, dark and tanned skin. The heat, humidity, pollution and UV rays of the season tend to have an adverse effect on your skin. The harmful effects of UV radiations may include sun tan (darkening of the skin), Sunburn, premature aging of the skin, eye damage, skin cancer etc. So your skin care becomes absolutely imperative during summers. And here’s how to go about it:
Keep your skin hydrated
The hot and humid summers can leave your body dehydrated. Drink at least 8-ounce glasses of water daily to maintain the essential moisture balance in your body. Drinking the required amount of water also helps in detoxifying by flushing out toxins from the body. If you consume caffeinated beverages, the thumb rule is to consume triple the amount of water. Also, consume lots of water based fruits and leafy green vegetables. Watermelons, cucumbers, berries are water rich and keep the skin hydrated. Yogurt is another wonderful option that keeps the body cool and hydrated.

Sun Protection

Sunscreen is one of the most essential ingredients in your everyday skin care regime, so don’t leave home without it. One should apply a minimum of SPF 15 (Sun Protecting Factor) before stepping out. The thumb rule says that sunscreen will protect your skin 15 times more than an unprotected skin from reddening. These days sunscreens are available in the market suiting all skin types- oily, dry, sensitive, damaged, normal etc – so suit yourself.

 Exercise

It goes without saying that exercising has its physical benefits, but it also happens to be an essential part of beauty ritual. We sweat when we exercise which in turn cleanses and flushes out the dirt from our pores – and that is the reason why we feel extra fresh after a post-workout shower. Sweating also helps in regulating the blood circulation which in turn helps in getting a glowing skin.

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise

This infallible 3-step-mantra is a golden rule for anybody’s skin care routine. Once in the morning and once at night. Cleanse your skin, follow it up with a toner, and finish off with a moisturizer. This will rejuvenate the skin and keeps it healthy and supple
